Located in Cologne, gamescom is Europe’s major trade show for computer and video games, and one of the most important events in the gaming industry worldwide. A new attendance record was registered at the 2019 edition - 1,153 exhibitors and 373,000 visitors - gaming enthusiasts and professionals. The upcoming gamescom 2020 will be staged on 25 - 29 August, but had to move to a fully digital setting due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, Koelnmesse GmbH will launch gamescom's first regional satellite event - gamescom asia. This first edition will take place from 14 to 17 October 2021 at Suntec Singapore.
Who can you meet there
What is new for gamescom 2020
The novelties at gamescom 2019 included something special - the indie village area, accompanied by the Media Indie Exchange (MIX). The presence of indie games was more prominent than ever before, thanks to this new feature. Before meeting with the general audience, developers from across the globe presented their indie titles to journalists and industry professionals at the exclusive MIX event.
Due to the nationwide ban on major events in Germany until 31 August, gamescom 2020 will not open its business or entertainment areas on site in the usual format. The event however will retain its best offers and present them online on its original dates.
