SPIEL in Essen is an international trade fair dedicated exclusively to card and board games. From 14 to 17 October SPIEL 2021 will turn Messe Essen into the stage of new releases by top board game publishers and emerging designers. All genres and age groups will be represented during the four expo days and participants will have the opportunity to observe the trends in boardgaming, which will come into play next year.
The 2021 SPIEL’s full overview of the classic and modern games will be complemented by a programme of live demonstrations, workshops, competitions and tournaments, connecting professionals, gamers and influencing figures within the board game community. The innovation award innoSPIEL will give novel game ideas the recognition they deserve. Comic Action will showcase an impressive selection of national and international comics and merchandising articles. The Educators’ Day will explore the potential of board games for educational purposes.

The hotel was comfortable and clean. Staff friendly and helpful.
Most of all , the location was excellent. It was easy to access from the airport by being so close to the main station and the direct trains to the exhibition were very close as well.
The train station proved very good for getting some thing hot to eat after a long day at the exhibition. The large supermarket was in the station as well.
