Gen Con is the largest tabletop game convention in North America. After a virtual edition in 2020, the upcoming Gen Con 2021 will take place as special hybrid edition. The format will include Gen Con Indy, returning to the Indiana Convention Center on 16 – 19 September, Gen Con Online, and Pop-Up Gen Con, which will be providing additional in-person and online experiences.
Each year, gamers and fans converge in Indianapolis to explore the latest game offers in the exhibition and share in the community through a variety of special events. The large showcase hall is filled with game publishers, artists, and related businesses, who have the opportunity to connect with tens of thousands of members of the public who attend with significant purchasing intentions. In 2021 the exhibition will operate at reduced attendance capacity, but will be supplemented by the online platform and Pop-Up Gen Con opportunities in local game stores.
Past the unmissable B2C opportunities on the show floor, Gen Con 2021 will once again offer a jam-packed programme of special events. Designers or publishers have the chance to playtest the games they are developing with an enthusiastic audience in the First Exposure Playtest Hall. The Trade Day is a program for hands-on training, networking and professional development. In 2021 it will take place over two days for the first time – on 15 September for retailers and on 18 September for educators. Attendees can also enjoy tournaments, live shows, guest appearances, seminars, auctions and the Gen Con Film Festival.
